I-1.7—To use assessment information to understand and support
children’s development and learning, to support instruction, and to identify
children who may need additional services.
This
ideal is important to me because through my experience in elementary education
I have realize how beneficial assesments can be in identifying children’s strengths
and weaknesses. Assessments when used appropriately can help us understand how
a child learns in order to help them reach the next level.
I-2.7—To share information about each child’s education and
development with families and to help them understand and appreciate the
current knowledge base of the early childhood profession.
This
ideal is important to me because we spend a lot of time with children sometimes
more than their own parents. When we share information about the child with
their parents we are giving them a glimpse of a side of their child they may
not get to see. Sharing information with these parents helps to keep them
involved which is vital to their child’s development.
I-3A.3—To support co-workers in meeting their professional needs and
in their professional development.
This
ideal is extremely important to me. I have met many early childhood educators
that did not know their worth. I have made it a personal mission to help build
up these educators when I encounter them and help them to understand that their
job and their influences in needed and very important.
I would agree with the ideal of assessment. I too feel assessment is a vital point to have in early childcare I have learned so many things from analizing data of young children. Not only is the teaching important but the health nutrition the attendance and the parents education determines how that child will do on the assessments. Teachers in early childhood have a lot of factors to look at to get a accurate account of why a child may lack in a particular domain
ReplyDeleteI definantly share the same perspective as you do when it comes to these principles. The assessment tools and their understanding is very important to all that is involved with the process of the developmental growth for the child. Wow! I am so with you on the support for the staff. Its important for them to have appreciation for their skills and we as administrators have to assure them of their value.
ReplyDeleteYour 3rd ideal was one that I also chose to post on my blog. The help and support of co-workers is huge. Without the support of my co-workers during my first year of teaching, I think that I would have been even more stressed and confused about what was going on but they helped me through it and I had a very successful year!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with ideal 3. I am learning so much from my coworkers and we continually provide each other with support and encourage each other to do our best for the children.
ReplyDeleteAssessment is so important and as I learn the many ways to assess students, it is so beneficial in developing the best path of instruction for what they need.
